Make It Special
Want to incorporate special elements to make your ceremony unique? Here are some ideas:
Unity Candle- Two small candles are lit by the mothers of the Bride and Groom, after the vows are exchanged, the Bride and Groom each take a candle and together light a larger candle. The lighting of the larger candle is a symbol of two lives coming together as one.
Salt/Sand Ceremony- This is a great ceremony when the Bride and Groom bring their children into the marriage. Each family member is given a small container of salt or sand and each person takes a turn pouring the salt/sand into a larger container. Once all the salt/sand has been poured into the larger container, the container is shaken to mix the individual layers to symbolize the joining of the two families.
Tying the Knot Ceremony- This ceremony is performed by the Bride and Groom while the Minister/Officiant explains the note used and the symbolism. The knot tied by the couple is the Fisherman's knot- a simple knot to tie that gets stronger as the knot is pulled tighter. Two different colors of cord is used to represent the Bride and Groom and in most cases, the colors used in the Wedding Theme is used.
Hand Fasting Ceremony- Hand Fasting was a common practice of joining two people when Clergy wasn't readily available. In Hand Fasting, the hands of the couple are joined together with a cord symbolizing the joining of the couple.
Communion Ceremony- This ceremony is done with the Bride and Groom to symbolize their first meal together as a married couple and that they realize that God is a part of their lives. This ceremony can be expanded to include the Wedding party- please make arraignments with Rev. Earl before the Wedding date.
Rose and Vase Ceremony- This is a great ceremony for when a couple renews their vows. The Rose and Vase are exchanged in place of rings. The number of roses exchanged represents the number of years the couple has been married. Tradition dictates that each year an additional rose is placed in the vase on the couples anniversary date.
Hand Blessing- A simple blessing of the Couples hands as the build their new life together.
