What makes a successful marriage? Some may say it's compatibility with your partner or it's all about communicating or saying you love your partner every chance you get. These attributes are all great; but if you're a spiritual couple, where is God in you marriage? Take a piece of cotton string and wrap the ends around your fingers and try to break it. Breaks fairly easy doesn't it? Ok, now take two strands of string and try to break these like you did with the single strand. They broke but you had to really work at it didn't you? Now the big test; take three strands and twist them together and try to break them. Pretty hard isn't it? So you might ask "What's the object here?" Well, the single strand represents you and the double strand represents you and you partner; and lastly, the three strands represents you, your partner and God.
Now you might say that you're not a religious couple; look at the paragraph above - the word I used was SPIRITUAL. Religion is great; it allows you to meet with like minded people, share common beliefs, etc. You can have God in your life with out having a church. Just like you developed a personal relationship with your partner, you can develope a relationship with God. Develope this relationship between your partner and God and you can strengthen marriage age.
